Year 1 Phonics Screening Test 2014

In June 2014, the 2014 Phonics Screening Test was given to all children in Year 1 in England. Children that failed the Year 1 Phonics Screening Test 2013 (when they were in Year 1) were required to take the Year 1 Phonics Test 2014 in Year 2.

2014 Phonics Screening Dates

Schools had the freedom to choose a day within the week commencing 16th June 2014. As some schools are larger than others, the test can take place on one day or across several days.

2014 Phonics Screening Test Threshold

The threshold mark for the 2014 Phonics Screening Test was 32 marks out of 40. Children who scored 32 marks or more met the expected standard while those that score below 32 had not.

Children that didn't meet the expected standard in the 2014 Phonics Test were required to take the test again the following year, the Phonics Test 2015.
